Adventure Hikes

Dogs need more than just physical exercise, they need mental and social stimulation too!

Group Hikes are designed with the goals of exploration, socialisation and mental stimulation.

1-on-1 Hikes are tailored to your individual dogs' needs, dependent on age, personality & energy levels.

What is an Adventure Hike?

Dogs have a sense of smell much greater than ours -

While we analyze the world through our eyes, they analyze and process the world through their noses.

Tails and Trails ENRICHMENT FOCUSED ADVENTURE HIKES have been developed based on what scientific studies say that dogs need to be fulfilled: engagement of the senses and the mind, discovery, physical exercise and individual attention.

They give your dogs an opportunity to be dogs, and to engage with new smells and sights in a variety of locations which promotes optimism and 'exercises' their brains.

Each dog is continually assessed during the hikes to ensure that they are happy. Changes are made if necessary to groups or locations, while always keeping you in the loop should I notice anything that needs extra attention.

Positive & Reward Based Training is used on all walks to ensure that your pooch is having fun and benefiting the most during our time together. This will also ensure that your dog is engaged with me while out on adventures, keeping them safe.

Services include:

  • Collecting and drop off at your home/office

  • Travel time does not take away from walking time

  • Positive & Rewards based training

  • Healthy treats and fresh water on every walk

  • Safe and secure car for travel

Group Adventures

Imagine your dogs enjoying the company of other dogs - sniffing and exploring to their hearts content. Most dogs are naturally sociable and want to interact with others. Your dog can play and socialize, practicing their social skills in the process.

Environmental Enrichment helps to satisfy both the physical and psychological needs of our dogs. We play games, challenging your dog’s naturally inquisitive side, leaving them satisfied and ready for rest and some quality time with you at the end of the day.

Group Walks take place in the Sintra - Cascais Natural Park and include: reinforcing good manners, recall training, safe socialization, as well as an exercise component.

No more than 3 dogs are walked in each group to ensure that each dog gets my individual attention to work on training, and to reinforce good manners.

Private Adventures

Some dogs prefer their own company or need a little more attention than others. All dogs can benefit from this type of walk, especially dogs that are anxious, fearful, stressed, or newly adopted.

These walks are designed to give 1-on-1 attention to the following:

- Senior dogs who cannot manage long/group walks

- Dogs recovering from injury

- Dogs who prefer to walk alone

These walks are choice-based, dog-led walks. Your dog leads the way while exploring, safely attached to a 10ft leash. Your dog is able to move around and sniff to their hearts content, while gently guided with Force Free, Positive Reinforcement training techniques.

Also known as DECOMPRESSION WALKS, these adventures allow your dog to decompress from the stresses of everyday city life. We walk at your dogs own pace, depending on how they are feeling that day.

Dogs from the same household can be walked together on 1-on-1 Walks if requested.

Depending on your dogs personality will determine where we will walk :)
